Student Code of Conduct
UC Irvine Donald Bren School of Information & Computing Sciences and the ICS Office of Outreach Access and Inclusion (ICS OAI) are committed to providing a quality education that prioritizes learning in a safe and inclusive environment. As a UCI-sponsored youth program, you join a community responsible for maintaining conditions conducive to achieving the program and the University’s mission. In compliance with campus policies, your participation commits you to the following:
- UCI’s Principles of Community
- UCI Sec. 714-18: Computer and Network Use Police
- UCI’s Nondiscrimination
- UCI’s Principles Against Intolerance
- University of California’s Statement of Ethical Values and Standards of
Ethical Conduct
In addition, all participants are expected to adhere to the following Code of Conduct, summarizing the rules and policies. Failure to do so can result in disciplinary action and/or removal from the program.
Students may be dismissed from the Aspirations in Computing Awards Ceremony for any of the following reasons:
- Possess or use alcohol, drugs, or tobacco, including vaping
- Knowingly being in the presence of those who are using or possessing alcohol, drugs, tobacco, or vape.
- Possession of dangerous instruments
- Leaving the campus unaccompanied by a staff member or guardian
- Theft, misuse of, or damage to University equipment or property
- Any violation of the safety or well-being of any person
- Violence, bullying/cyberbullying, harassment, discrimination, intimidation, and abuse of any type, real or threatened, towards any community member will not be tolerated.
- Accessing, posting, or displaying any harmful or inappropriate pictures, language, or materials that may be perceived as threatening, inappropriate, or offensive is strictly prohibited.
Participants are encouraged to immediately stop and report incidents that do not seem right or make a participant feel uncomfortable by emailing [email protected].
The UC Irvine Donald Bren School of Information & Computing Sciences and the Office of Outreach, Access, & Inclusion retain the right to expel any student not conducting themself appropriately while on the UCI campus.
Classroom Etiquette
- Be respectful to all instructors, staff, guest speakers, fellow students, and UCI physical property at all times
- Be on time for class and return to the classroom from lunch at the designated time
- Raise your hand when you have a question or require assistance
- No cell phone use during class time
- Notify the professor or ICSSA staff before leaving the classroom
- Be mindful of voice levels to respect other ongoing programs within the UC Irvine Campus
- Keep your area clean and organized (disposing of trash, crumbs, etc...)
